Adapting K-12 Libraries to Social Distancing Guidelines
Thursday, June 4, 2020
Our K-12 library analysis considers furniture layouts, high-touch areas, traffic flow, and space utilization. These analyses enable customized guidance for students’ safe return to school libraries, including:
- Space utilization and touch point analysis to provide custom-tailored recommendations
- Establishing circulation patterns to minimize exposure time between individuals
- One-way aisles between book stacks
- Plexiglass barriers at the circulation desk
- Monitored self-checkout of books and library materials
- Seating analysis and redesign to ensure social distancing
- Increased ventilation
- Space utilization and touch point analysis
- Dimensioned drawings for use by school staff to aid in the setup of new furniture arrangements
K-12 library analysis is just one component of our multifaceted COVID-19 Response Services. Other shared spaces we analyze and provide recommendations for include classrooms, laboratories, and cafeterias.
