The City of Bridgeton, MO celebrated the grand opening of the new Hastings+Chivetta-designed Recreation Center on Saturday. A large crowd of residents came out to get a first look at the 53,275 SF state-of-the-art facility, which replaces an outdated 1980s building. The new building offers many family-oriented activities not available in the old Bridgeton community center.
Features of the facility include an upper level running/jogging track with expansive views to the nearby wooded area. Secured access to the building’s “activity zones” is managed by staff at the upper level control desk. Park and recreation offices, meeting rooms, a game room and aerobics room are located in a “free zone” that is accessible without check-in at the control desk.
Lower level amenities include a party room, cardio/free weights and two courts. The indoor pool area includes a zero-depth entry, water slide, current channel, an interactive play structure and a lap pool.
Additional information about the new recreation center can be found on the City of Bridgeton’s website.
