Hastings+Chivetta Architects Encourages STEM Engineering Experience for Young Women at Cor Jesu Academy

Hastings+Chivetta’s own Chris Chivetta and Steve DeHekker were honored to be part of Cor Jesu Academy’s Summer Engineering Experience.  The program is designed to interest high school age girls in engineering careers by providing the young women with hands-on learning experiences directed by industry professionals.

In 2013, Hastings+Chivetta was selected by Cor Jesu to update the school’s campus master plan.  Chris and Steve were able to incorporate H+C’s work on campus into their day as Summer Engineering Experience mentors.  The day focused on civil engineering challenges and used the Cor Jesu campus site as an example. The young women were asked to prepare and explain their designs for the campus and then were able to compare with the actual plan designed by Hastings+Chivetta.
