Tuesday, June 4, 2019
Hastings+Chivetta’s President Chris Chivetta, Senior Associate & Programmer Nancy Sopuch, and Junior Architectural Designer Stephanie Wehmeier presented at the Tradeline University Facilities 2019 Conference May 6-7 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Tradeline conferences focus on university capital projects and space planning ideas for high resource utilization, student life, flexibility, collaboration and cost reduction. Sessions with peer institutions and planning experts discuss visioning, decision-making, courses of action, plans, and the execution of successful facilities involving a spectrum of space types and new planning models.
Chris, Nancy and Stephanie co-presented on “Programming Processes that Unite and Manage Disparate Interests in a Single Building”, detailing three of H+C’s recent projects. Chris presented on the firm’s work at the University of St. Thomas, where arts and sciences are combined into an integrated STEAM complex with cross-discipline adjacencies. Nancy presented on Saint Louis University’s Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building, a programming- and data-driven project that consolidated and allocated space among researchers and science disciplines. Nancy presented on the Millikin University Commons, where H+C renovated an existing library to incorporate a student commons and leadership center.
Hastings+Chivetta has worked on over 210 campuses in 40 states across the nation, planning and designing a range of academic, science, recreation, student life, housing and athletic facilities that have helped to improve recruitment, retention and student life culture.
