Carr Natatorium in the Jesse Philips Physical Education Center
The major component of the recently renovated and expanded Jesse Philips Physical Education Center is the transformed Carr Natatorium. The existing 6-lane, 25-yard lap pool with attached two-board dive tank was removed and replaced with a 25-yard x 25 meter 10-lane pool that includes a pair of one-meter and three-meter springboards. The new size and configuration allows for much greater flexibility and additional uses. A shallow recreation lane was added for walk-in entry, swim instruction, therapy programs and water aerobics. The design also includes a wet classroom, spa, pool storage, meet management area and wellness offices. Seating in the spectator section was refurbished.
The natatorium is the home for Oberlin’s swim and dive programs, as well as club and high school practices and competitions.
