Case Athletic Center
The first step by the University of Tulsa in the renovation and renewal of the historic Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium was commissioning Hastings+Chivetta to design the Case Athletic Complex, named in honor of Mike Case and his wife Pat, major contributors to the project. The Complex is located at the north end zone of the stadium, which has a current capacity of 40,385 seats. A large brick plaza designed for outdoor special events welcomes visitors into the atrium, which has a ticket booth, a Golden Hurricane souvenir & apparel shop and public restrooms.
The third floor has a 4,000-SF meeting space with eight break rooms, each equipped with independent high-definition televisions and video/DVD equipment. Also on this top level is the Academic Achievement Center. The facility is for students from all sports, with eighteen computer stations, tutoring and counseling offices, and 1500 SF of flexible space.
The middle level is the coaches’ administrative suite with numerous private offices, a conference room, workrooms, a media work room, a coaches’ locker room and an equipment room. Two additional rooms in the suite offer top-of-the-line production and archive technology.
The large locker room on the lower floor has HD TVs throughout. Additionally, the football locker room very recently underwent a striking update and refresh. The adjacent athletic training room features a 3,300-gallon hydrotherapy pool and a 750-gallon cold plunge tank.
