Health Education Building
To support its new bachelor’s degree in nursing program, John Brown University enlisted Hastings+Chivetta to design a state-of-the-art Health Education Building for its first cohort of nursing students. The facility is sited adjacent to the Hastings+Chivetta-designed Balzer Technology Center for Engineering & Construction Management.
The new facility incorporates several classrooms, clinic teaching space with four exam rooms, four simulation patient rooms, two health assessment labs, a computer lab, offices and study lounges. High fidelity patient care simulators have been incorporated, and include adult, pediatric and mother-newborn patients. A variety of classroom types are included: traditional lecture-style for 48 students; pod-based technology-rich classrooms (with data and video for each pod) accommodates 40 students; and two 40-person classrooms offer portable tables and chairs for small-group activities.
The new facility is a direct reflection of the University’s mission to “prepare people to honor God and serve others by developing their intellectual and professional lives.”
