Knowlton Athletic Complex

Augustana College, a private liberal arts college located in Rock Island, IL, selected Hastings+Chivetta for a major re-design of the college’s sports complex. Hastings+Chivetta architects was charged with the design of a major renovation and construction project at the college’s football field and track facilities.

Improvements include: installation of a new artificial surface on the track; a new three story stadium structure providing an additional 1,800 seats; new team meeting rooms, locker rooms, athletic training facilities and offices for coaching staff. The new facility also boasts a conference room, reception areas, a press box and suites for entertaining.

In a July 2012 article in the Quad City Times, the college’s acting president, W. Kent Barnds, calls these improvements “an investment in our students, our programs, and our institution” and Augustana’s football coach, Rob Cushman notes: “Games are won and lost on the field, but this is a step forward to giving us a competitive edge as we recruit and work to build the program”.
