Seabury Residence Hall Renovation
After completing the new Deep Green Residence Hall and renovating the Anna Smith Residence Hall, Berea College engaged Hastings+Chivetta to complete a renovation and expansion of the nearby Seabury Hall. Seabury Hall originally housed 34 freshmen women in traditional-style rooms. Hastings+Chivetta renovated the existing facility and designed an addition to give the hall a total of 52 beds.
Seabury Hall was originally built in 1959, and features the College’s signature Colonial-style architecture. This is the facility’s first significant renovation since being constructed more than 50 years ago. The entire facility was renovated, including common rooms and group study rooms, to provide a more modern living environment for students. The expansion added 18 beds as well as much-needed study rooms and lounges, in addition to office space for residence life staff. The lowest level features a renovated recreation room, living room with full kitchen for student use, several group study rooms and a laundry room. The upper two residential floors also include group study rooms.
