Waverly Community Wellness Center
Founded in 1852, Wartburg College and the City of Waverly chose Hastings+Chivetta to design a comprehensive Wellness Center to serve Wartburg students and faculty as well as the Waverly community. The center houses a performance gymnasium and the Wartburg Hall of Fame lobby. Recreational space includes strength training and cardiovascular areas, a wrestling room, multipurpose rooms, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, and an auxiliary gym for practice and intramural sports. Separate locker rooms serve varsity athletes, visiting teams, coaches, the wrestling program and general users. A community entrance is located at the edge of campus and has ample parking to meet the needs of Waverly community members. The facility has been designed to allow continuous use by members while Wartburg’s athletic teams practice and compete, ensuring that members are never denied access to activities. Membership areas include the lobby, lounge, fitness center, wellness center, indoor leisure pool, aerobic and multipurpose rooms, juice bar, babysitting area, climbing wall, locker rooms, and racquetball courts. The 200-meter field house, auxiliary gymnasium, hall of fame, and meeting rooms are shared by members and athletes.
